Initial premise of the Autonomous Women's Center is that policies, in order to fight against violence against women, at the local and national level should be consistent with international standards and good practices in this field. In accordance with the strategic goals, that the Convention of the United Nations and the Council of Europe should be implemented well by the state and that in the process of joining the European Union we must respect the human rights of women, Autonomous Women's Center consistently monitors the implementation of and advocates for a comprehensive, coherent, relevant, specific, efficient and effective national policies against violence against women.

On the invitation of the Ministry of Justice, representatives of the Autonomous Women’s Center, Vanja Macanovic and Vedrana Lacmanovic, met on November 7th with the Minister of Justice, Nela Kuburovic ,and Ministry representatives. On this occasion, the Minister, Nela Kuburovic, signed the petition calling for the proclamation of May 18th as the Day of Remembrance of Murdered Women Victims of Violence. At the meeting, Minister Kuburovic stated that she’s willing to support amendments proposed by women’s organizations in relation to the laws about violence against women already in Parliamentary procedure (Law on Domestic Violence Prevention, Criminal Code).

Aside from the Minister, the petition was signed by employees of the Ministry of Justice.
