Shortly before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on November 23rd 2016, a panel was organized at the EU Info Center, titled “How Should We Respond to Violence”.
The panelists included the Head of the sector for justice, internal affairs and support to civil society at the EU Delegation to Serbia, Nicolas Bizel, the Commissioner for Protection of Equality, Brankica Jankovia, and the Deputy Ombudsman for Children and Gender Equality, Gordana Stevanovic, Advisor to the Vice-President of the Serbian Government and Coordinator of the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality, Branka Draskovic, Jelena Tadzic from UNDP and Tanja Ignjatovic from the Autonomous Women’s Center.
The panelists discussed problems and measures aimed at advancing gender equality and decreasing violence against women. It was noted that cooperation between competent services is necessary, as is the implementation of law, in the aim of preventing violence and supporting victims.
