17/7/2015, Podgorica MNE: At the invitation of Ms. Nada Drobnjak, Head of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro, Tanja Ignjatović from Autonomous Women’s Center has presented Indicators for monitoring implementation of provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on Violence against Women at the 53rd session of the Gender Equality Committee.
There was presented a possibility of monitoring the implementation of the Convention through indicators that indicate the level of compliance of laws, measures and provisions with the standards of this international agreement, through quantitative indicators, which require better administrative records, and the qualitative indicators related to prevention, training of professionals, support for victims, effective protection and proportionate sanctions. In the discussion it was emphasized that Montenegro has a good normative framework, but that more should be done to raise awareness, implement law and measures, to harmonize and monitoring the effects of conduct, to improve quality of measures and services and coordinated action.
Indicators will be a basis for reporting of relevant ministries on implementation of the Convention at the public hearing before the Committee on Gender Equality of the Parliament of Montenegro in November 2015.
