25/5/2015, Belgrade: Autonomous Women’s Center and Network Women against Violence have submitted an open letter to the ministers Selakovic, Stefanovic and Vulin regarding so called new proposals to protect women from violence.
The letter states that members of the AWC and WAV Network are unpleasantly surprised by the bad proposals of three ministers, who thus show a serious lack of knowledge about male violence against women, and in particular the killing of women (femicide). It emphasizes that some of the ministers’ proposals are already part of the existing laws or protocols (such as the ban on the issuance of weapons), and that the most worrying suggestion is that domestic violence (psychological violence) should be treated as a misdemeanor rather than a criminal offense.
The open letter is available in Serbian in the attachment.
