On the occasion of the Magazin IN broadcast on Pink TV on January 18, 2025, the Autonomous Women's Center appealed to the Ministry of Justice to dismiss the lawyer Zora Dobričanin Nikodinović from her position as a member of the Working Group for Amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as report to the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media.

We remind you that in the aforementioned show, the guests, lawyer Zora Dobričanin Nikodinović and presenter Sanja Marinković, made a series of unfounded, simplistic, unethical and malicious claims about women victims of violence and the organizations that support them (transcript available in the original documents at the end of the news).

With what she said on the show, lawyer Zora Dobričanin Nikodinović showed that she does not respect the laws and other by-laws and strategic regulations and decisions of the Republic of Serbia, and expressed views that are in complete contradiction to the respect of international standards to which the state of Serbia has committed itself. The Autonomous Women's Center therefore expresses doubts about the impartiality and goodwill of the lawyer who, within the Working Group for Amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure, sincerely advocates for the improvement of the rights of victims of criminal proceedings, in accordance with Directive 2012/29/EU on the establishment of minimum standards for the rights, support and protection of victims of criminal acts.

We also believe that the lawyer and presenter violated a number of legal and by-law provisions, primarily the provisions of the Law on Electronic Media, with the statements made, namely:

  • Article 70 - Obligation to respect human rights, given that such statements grossly violated the human rights and dignity of women victims of violence. Additionally, we believe that the statement that "it is not in the genes of men to defend themselves by talking, but the first reaction is to react physically" also violated the human rights and dignity of men;
  • Article 71 - Prohibition of hate speech, because the program content of the media service provider contained information that incites, openly or covertly, discrimination, hatred or violence, and that towards women who are victims of violence, as well as towards the organizations that provide support to them, many of which have decades of experience, and some have licenses for the support services they provide;
  • Article 72 - Prohibition of publication of certain program content, because the program content of the media service provider reported on domestic violence and violence against women in a sensationalistic, simplified and unethical manner.

The Autonomous Women's Center also informs that, on the occasion of the disputed show, we were contacted by numerous citizens who felt humiliated and hurt.

Therefore, we expect quick reactions from the competent bodies.
