The Autonomous Women’s Center’s analysis “Social Housing Policies - Possibilities for women who have survived violence, and how they can realize their rights”, was presented to the public on October 8th in Belgrade, at an activist meeting attended by representatives of women’s associations from Uzice, Nis, Kragujevac, Krusevac, Novi Becej, Leskovac, Common Action for “The Roof Over Our Heads” from Novi Sad, The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, as well as the Coordination Body for Gender Equality.

The analysis advocates for increased accessibility and improvement of housing services for women who have survived violence, and their children, in accordance to the Housing and Building Maintenance Act, the Istanbul Convention, and other domestic and international legal and research related documents. We used good practice examples – such as the city of Vienna, Skoplje and other cities and regions in Europe – as basis for making our own draft proposals which will be sent to local self-governments in the aim of advancing the housing status of women who have survived violence and who are experiencing financial and housing crises.

The analysis is available here.
