On May 18th, activists of the Women Against Violence Network, coordinated by the Autonomous Women's Center, handed over 8,000 signatures to support the Deputy Prime Minister and the President of the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality, Zorana Mihajlović, for proclaiming this day a Day of Remembrance for murdered women who were victims of violence.

At the same time, 40 pairs of red women's shoes were placed in front of the Government of the Republic of Serbia as a reminder that every year between 30 and 40 women were killed in a family-partnership context in Serbia. According to the website of the Network, "the shoes here are not just a symbol of a woman killed by a man, they are an image of the defeat of the state and institutions of the system, the community, us as individuals, in providing support and protection, understanding and trust in what the women are telling us. For that is the essence of the answer to male violence against women. Belief in the testimony of a woman and her experience as a survivor of violence".
