The overall objective of the (independent) monitoring of the implementation of the Concluding Comments of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women is to contribute in raising the responsibility of the Government in the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and Concluding Comments of the CEDAW Committee in the field of violence against women / domestic violence.
This goal we tried to achieve through:
- Research on the implementation of the objectives and measures provided for key national strategies for achieving gender equality and protection of women from violence, sustainable development, with particular focus on multiple marginalized groups of women: Roma women, women with disabilities and women from rural areas.
- The impact on increasing the accountability of government at national and local level in the implementation of gender-sensitive policies, particularly violence against women, which are mentioned in the CEDAW Concluding Comments.
The project was implemented in the period April - December 2009 with the financial support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Participants in the project: women's NGOs (40), representatives of the state at the national and local level.
