- On November 26, 2007 within the campaign “16 Days of Activism Against
Violence Against Women” in the Great Gallery in the Student Cultural
Center was opened the exhibition
Offbeat: Look and See Violence Against Women
(Selda Asal, He Chengyao, Biljana Đurđevic, Guerilla Girls, Ivana
Kličkovič, Eufrosinia Kersnovskaya, Aprilija Lužar, Grace Ndiritu, Ana
Peraica, Nevena Popović, Jovana Popić, Milica Ružičić, Anne-Marie
Schneider, Ivana Smiljanić, Hito Steyerl, Aleksandra Zdravković). The
exhibition was opened by: Gorica Mojović, assistant of the mayor, Maja
Ćirić curator of the exhibition and Irina Ljubić, media coordinator in
AWC. The exhibition will be opened until December, 10 2007

- On November 23, 2007 Autonomous Women’s Center – Good Practice
Development Program in the Field of Domestic Violence, organized a
conference for media in the City Assembly of Belgrade regarding the
beginning of the 7th national campaign ”16 Days of Activism Against
Violence Against Women” under the slogan React Before it’s too late.

- “Violence Does Not Pass by
Itself - Research on Teen Dating
Violence in the Republic of Croatia”, carried out by Center for
Education, Councelling and Research - CESI, Zagreb, was presented in
Media center in Belgrade on November 19, 2007 - International Day
Against Child Abuse. Research results, presented by Amir Hodžić, show
alarming data: more than two thirds of adolescents reported
experiencing some form of violent behavior from their partner.

- The Second Regional Conference “The Role of Education in Gender
Based Violence Prevention” was held on November 13 - 16 in Zenica, BiH.
Conference was organized by Care International North West Balkans in
cooperation with project partners: CESI, Zagreb, Croatia; Medica,
Zenica, BiH; and Autonomous Women’s Center, Belgrade, Serbia. There
were more than 150 representatives of governmental and nongovernmental
sector form BiH, Croatia and Serbia.

- Autonomous Women’s Center has been elected for Civil Society Focal Point – target group women by the Deputy Prime minister’s PRSP implementation Team.
As a communication mechanism AWC should provide organized,
continuous, two-way information exchange, participation in key
processes linked to the PRS and impact on effects of strategy
implementation, which would lead to poverty reduction in Serbia,

- SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ,
4-6 December 2006, Yerevan, Armenia
Organization - Women’s Rights Center in Armenia, the Secretariat of the International Consortium for Domestic Violence.
AWC representatives Ms Slavoljupka Pavlović and Ms Jelena Keserović participated in the Conference, organized as a part of several international campaigns and programs: European Council's Pan-European Campaign against violence against women, Campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women"...
The Conference was about supporting realization of the National Plan of Action for improving woman status and her role in society of Republic Armenia 2004-2010.

- CONFERENCE „WOMEN, DEMOKRACY, PARTICIPATION, PEACE, RIGHTS“
Organization: Women Centre „Light Steps“, Skadar
November 17th – 19th, 2006, Skadar, Albania
Conference on which AWC member Ms Tanja Janjić participated, was organized for the local population of Skadar, in which the women live isolated and under patriarchate. The aim was to initiate the question of the influence of feminism on European societies, and of the activities taken for the purpose of straightening women and their place in the society.

- NOVEMBER 25th, 2006 at 12:00 at the Republic Square in Belgrade
Launching of the AWC national campaign “16 days of activism against violence against women ” named "DO YOU SEE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN?" with a performance of the group Women at work. The aim of the performance was to symbolically present life of women who are facing domestic violence on everyday basis convinced that they don't have a choice.

- AWC CONSULTATIVE TEAM ORGANIZES A SEMINAR: ” Work With Women With a Male Violence Trauma Within the Scope of Legal Consultation” - The seminars took place during November and December 2006. Participants are volunteers, lawyers of AWC law team, associates from various organizations „...from Circle“, Syndicate Independence-women section, SOS telephone Smederevo and SOS telephone Leskovac.

- PRESENTATION OF THE EXPERT GROUP’S STUDY ‘’GOOD PRACTICES IN ADDRESSING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN’’

The work of the United Nations to address all forms and manifestations of violence against women has gained new momentum with the launching, on 9 October 2006, of the Secretary-General’s in-depth study on all forms of violence against women and the adoption by the General Assembly, on 19 December 2006, of an action-oriented resolution on the “Intensification of efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women” (A/RES/61/143). After two years of work and preparation in which experts from various countries were involved, and among them AWC’s expert Ms Lepa Mlađenović – the study concerning good practices in the case of violence against women was finished. Autonomous Women’s Center published 50 pages of the short version of the translation of “Good Practices in Combating Violence and Elimination of Violence Against Women” (Belgrade 2006), available at our website.

- ENCOURAGE ACTIVITIES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS Let’s Bond the Community!

Within the scope of a AWC’s Good Practice Development Program project “Encourage activities of local governments, public services and NGO’s in building up a model of integral intervention - coordinated action of the local comunity in prevention and protection from domestic violence”. During September, 2006 begun the collaboration with chosen local governments and centers for social welfare in 5 municipalities in Serbia: Kragujevac, Loznica, Smederevska Palanka, Golubac and Ćuprija. In October, AWC will organize meetings with representatives of municipalities, centers for social welfare and other relevant services for setting up future arrangements of cooperation.

- FOUR SEMINARS ON THE BALKANS

Within the scope of a regional project: “Cooperation with institutions for the reason of creating mechanisms of monitoring and intervention regarding domestic violence – exchange good practices, training for the trainers and the capacity building of NGO’s”, and with financial support from Dutch NVO HOM from Utrecht, four seminars were organized:
- on May 19th, 2006 in Skoplje,
- on May 27th, 2006 in Sarajevo,
- on Jun 1st, 2006 in Tirana,
- on Jun 8th, 2006 in Zagreb.

- ROUND TABLE IN BELGRADE CITY HALL (February 28, 2006)
Autonomous Women’s Center from Belgrade and Women Research Center for Education and Communication from Nis organized Round table “Domestic violence – the barrier for development” in the City Hall of Belgrade. The aim of this round table was to introduce to professionals the attempts of improvement in the practice in the domestic violence field, specially violence suffered by women, through presentation of key recommendations of Council of Europe, activities of AWC and results of the implementation of law regulations in the field.
