Violence against women is a manifestation of historically unequal power relations between men and women, which have led to domination over and discrimination against women by men and to the prevention of the full advancement of women. Violence against women is one of the crucial social mechanisms by which women are forced into a subordinate position compared with men. The authors carried out two monitoring missions, during which they conducted more than 90 interviews with government officials, police, judges, prosecutors, health care workers, social workers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and many others.

  • Comments of the AWC on the Draft Law on Gender Equality

Support for Women

Autonomous Women's Centre organizes specialized support for women who are experiencing trauma: violence in partnership relations and within the family and sexual violence and harassment.

Educational Activities

From its beginings, AWC has developed an educational program for the Telephone helpline for women with trauma of male violence. Good Practice Development Program, since 2002, has been developing educational programs for representatives of all institutions involved in domestic violence issue.
